2021-22 Committee Sign Ups

2021-22 Committee Sign Ups

Dear Parents,

We are now forming PTA committees for the 2021-2022 school year.  This is a great opportunity to make a difference in our children’s lives and to be involved in your school community.

We have over 50 committees/chairpersons positions available for you to choose from.  Attached you will find a short description of each committee.  PLEASE GIVE THIS SOME THOUGHT AS YOU ARE THE FUTURE OF OUR PTA! Click here for the list of committees.

Each committee chairperson will meet with the co-presidents & VP to plan for the year and create a brief outline of the committee’s purpose with all pertinent details.  Each committee chairperson will also have to provide the co-presidents and recording secretary with a written overview 10 days prior to any PTA meeting in which a verbal report is needed.

Some committees require an actual committee whereas others will require parent participation on the day of the event.  A signup sheet for each event requiring parents’ participation will be presented at PTA meetings which will be added to the Walt Whitman PTA website and email blasted to our PTA members. The level of time required for each committee varies, so if you want to get involved, but aren’t sure what is best for your availability, we can help! Please feel free to contact us.

Please call or email us if you have any questions or comments about the committees or the sign up process.  Thank you for all of your help, dedication and commitment! As always, TEAMWORK MAKES DREAM WORK.

We are only accepting electronic applications this year. Please visit our website for committee details & to submit the committee sign-up application by May 15th. No applications will be accepted after this date.  Thank you for your continued understanding. We are planning for the best and preparing for the worst, so please note that all PTA events will be based on district COVID policies for 2021-2022

PARP 2021 is Here!

Beginning March 1 and for the whole month of March!

Help us decorate our school hallways and website for this this year’s PARP by completing these two activities.  Read with a family member and learn about any animal you find interesting.  Animal research projects for regular or endangered animals and decorative leaves.   Both of these optional assignments are DUE by FRIDAY 2/26.  See your PARP packet for hard copy information or go to our PTA website PARP page.

PARP stands for Pick a Reading Partner.  It is a program designed to foster the love of reading in children by asking adults to set aside at least 15 minutes a day to read with children.

This year, we proudly invite you to travel with us on a “Reading Safari” and join Walt Whitman Elementary School’s “Safari into reading” challenge.

This year’s PARP will start off with an exciting school-wide “PARP Safari” event on Monday, March 1st. Kids will be encouraged to Dress up on that day in safari gear, or as their favorite jungle animal! It’s going to be quite the reading adventure!

There will be many other fun events throughout the month of PARP, including a cozy day of reading with PAJAMA DAY on Wednesday, March 3rd

Get ready for other fun events such as a PARP/book themed Bingo night, weekly mystery readers, and much much more.

We can’t wait to meet you in our reading jungle!
